How it happened

The Proposal

After alot of talking about marriage and engagement with carrie, she had told me that she wanted it to be a surprise. So I had decided that today, May the 8th, was going to be it.  I went out to her parents house and sat down with her mom and step dad and had asked for their permission to marry their daughter.  With the blessing in hand I moved forward with my plans.  I got in touch with her sister and told her my plans and asked for her help in getting a few things to place around the house for the return trip home.  I picked carrie up for work that day and brought along a blind fold for her to wear as I had told her we were going on a trip.  We drove around a few streets to throw off her sense of direction,,probably didn't need to but did it anyway.  We drove up to patti's for a nice quiet dinner.  Before going up there, I had talked to my friend jennifer as well as the restaurant staff about my upcoming proposal.  Jennifer had my camera and was to be acting as a photographer shooting pictures for an advertisement for the restaurant of people eating and entertaining around the restaurant.  At our table was a dozen red roses and the table was tucked away off into a corner.  All the people around us was aware that we were on an engagement dinner, well everyone but carrie.  I had excused myself from the table to deliver the ring to the restaurant manager for them to place it on a platter with flowers and dessert to be brought out later.  We posed for several pictures with our advertising photographer.  Carrie asked me several times what was wrong with me as I'm sure I was acting quite nervous about my upcoming speech.  Well dessert was brought out and placed in the center of the platter was the ring that I had gotten her.  Carrie seemed to be quite taken by surprise of the ring in my hand as i had gotten down on my knee and asked if carrie would make me the luckiest man on this earth and share in the rest of our lives together by being my wife.  Well after a long debate, ok well it seemed to take forever but was actually just a really quick, "yes, of course baby."  So we returned home and made a few phone calls on the way to tell everyone the news. Her mom and sister had been at our house and placed several lit candles and loose rose petals around in the bed room.  When we got home carrie was treated to the sweet aroma's of vanilla and roses as we spent the rest of the night and our days together planning our life.

Bling Bling.. I got the ring!

Micah had been talking a lot about getting engaged and it was really important to me that his proposal to me would be a surprise. He picked me up at work and blind-folded me and drove me to Patti's for dinner. We walked around the gardens for awhile. Evidently Micah had the ring box in his sock and felt it starting to slip so he rushed us in to dinner instead. We sat down at a table that had a dozen red roses on our table which I kind of thought was strange since none of the other tables had roses on them! Micah was very nervous during dinner and I told him he was acting odd. He didn't have much of an appetite however, he really wanted dessert for some reason. There was a girl walking around taking pictures and they told us it was for advertising. After Micah ordered dessert the room slowly cleared out. Later I found out that everyone of the guests knew that Micah would be proposing and all finished the dinner quickly to give us privacy. When they brought the dessert out my ring was on it and Micah dropped down to one knee and asked me to be his forever. I answered "Yes of course baby!" and then we were serenaded to "Let me call you sweetheart." It was the perfect night and when we got out to the truck I found out that the "advertising" lady was really a friend of his he had asked to come take pictures. When we got to the house it was decorated with a heart of rose petals on the bed and candles everywhere and we stayed up all night drinking wine and talking! It was a perfect night! I love you Micah!!!!
